A report by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) highlights that US government employees using outdated mobile devices are exposed to various cyber attacks.
The report suggests that the use of outdated mobile devices running outdated Android and iOS operating systems can compromise sensitive government information, and put national security at risk. The GAO recommends that the government takes measures to update mobile devices regularly and educates employees on the risks of using outdated devices.
Obviously, this report is true for the employees of all governments and it is suggested that old devices and unupdated operating systems should not be used under any circumstances. Of course, the filtering and embargoing of many software repositories as well as Android and iOS stores in Iran has prevented users from accessing essential security and peripheral updates, and the spread of this problem can create a security crisis.
